  1. Leah this is pass level research at the moment. You have put some good information and links to where you have found your research but it’s a little thin on the ground. I would have liked to see a lot more sources of research and also a wider selection of sources i.e. not just websites, but e-book, books, journals and news articles too?

Please re-read the instructions too – you should have been evaluating the quality and usefulness of your research as you go along. There were bullet points given to you with subheadings for you to consider for each source you have found. You seem to have deleted all the instructions though which you really must not do – this is how work gets missed! I’ve copied them here for you:

You will need to research for YOUR ESSAY. You need to fill in a research plan and complete the research that you need to make the points in YOUR ESSAY.

Your essay will be Harvard Referenced so you don’t need to do that here. This is merely a storage facility for what you have found where you can evaluate the credibility and usefulness of your essay.
ask yourself a series of questions (see the document ‘my research plan’ and use this to guide you to formulate the questions to which you need to find answers)
    – gather a wide range of information, including the historical and cultural contexts, which will help you to answer the questions you have set
    – range and variety of information sources are key: you should not just rely on the internet; you should also read books / magazines, try and interview people, listen to lectures, watch relevant TV programmes, listen to the radio, etc.
    – try and have a range of primary and secondary information sources
    – record, in detail, the source of all this information so that it can be included in your bibliography, you MUST use – – Harvard Referencing. Here is the link to the college online guide to Harvard referencing. http://library.wsc.ac.uk/c.php?g=652536&p=4578089

    Evaluate your research for its:
    – currency (how up to date is this information? does it matter if it is from an old source?)
    – relevance (how much of this information is useful?)
    – quality (does it come from a trustworthy source? how do you know this?)
    – content (is there some new information here? Does it shed more light on something you found out somewhere else?)
    – relationship to the work you have been carrying out on the course

    Analyse your research by:
    – highlighting / identifying key pieces of information you have noticed
    – commenting on significant things that might be useful or interesting for your essay
    – show how this investigation feeds into your own work on the course
(look at the document – ‘my research reflection’ for examples of how to do this)

The above statements are guides to how evidence for the final unit (12) will be assessed. Tutors will let you know in their feedback how your evidence for this unit compares to these achievement standards so that you are aware of the level you are currently working at.
