Presentation UAL definition: The degree of competence and proficiency shown in the organisation and presentation of themselves or their work to an audience
Fail Ineffective communication and presentation of ideas. Lack of clarity in structure, selection and organisation.
Pass Competent communication and sufficient clarity and consistency in presentation of ideas appropriate to the intended audience.
Merit Confident selection, organisation and communication of ideas. Consistent approach to presentation demonstrating a good understanding of conventions and standards.
Distinction Confident selection, organisation and communication of ideas. Demonstrating autonomy, personal style and an ambitious use of available resources to communicate ideas effectively to an intended audience.
The above statements are guides to how evidence for the final unit (12) will be assessed. Tutors will let you know in their feedback how your evidence for these units compares to these achievement standards so that you are aware of the level you are currently working at.
ROLE: Ensemble
Leah, as we got closer to the shows, during Production week, you were showing greater confidence and an ability to select, organise and communicate your ideas for your own individual character journey that was in keeping with the narrative of Quircus. In the shows you performed very consistently and demonstrated a good understanding of the conventions and standards needed for this style of production. Your work very clearly meets the Merit standard (and is almost to Distinction standard) set by UAL for this category. Moving forwards, try and extend the range of characterisation you are capable of, push your interpretation and personal sense of the performance style in order to elevate it and give it even greater nuance and depth.

Leah, this is pass level work.
Format
First of all, you’ve not adequately followed the instruction and written this essay on a Word Document as the instructions have asked. Therefore, it’s harder for you to trace your wordcount. Please ensure for future projects, you read the instructions on your WordPress fully as it would be a shame if you couldn’t achieve your target grade as you hadn’t read the instructions.
Referencing
You have made no attempt to Harvard Reference and you cannot achieve more than a Pass grade if you have made no attempt on this. Please ensure that you are correctly Harvard Referencing else this would be a shame if this is what capped your grade in the future. There are many missed opportunities for referencing as well; you should be referencing anything that isn’t common knowledge.
Content
This essay is very descriptive and not majorly insightful. You haven’t really used your research effectively and applied it in an academic way. This essay only just achieves Pass criteria as there is some clarity to your arguments. However, your arguments are very basic and they don’t go much beyond the surface. You need to dig deeper with your arguments to achieve a Merit or above.
One of the main things here to improve Leah, is your referencing – there are paragraphs that do not sound like your style and without referencing it is as though you are passing off someone else’s work as your own – which I’m sure you know is plagiarism. I can see some of your references on your research page, so I know this isn’t necessarily the case, but your essay should have in-text citations in every single paragraph to back up the points you are making and to demonstrate where you are referring to things you have researched.
